Giving Tuesday is here. It’s a relatively new tradition as part of this season of caring and generosity, a way to increase the connection between nonprofits and donors.
And on this Giving Tuesday, all of us at Mary’s Path feel such gratitude to the individuals, foundations, and government entities that support our work to help teen mothers and their babies every day.
We enter December anticipating the joy that comes with first Christmases and a safe and caring environment for our residents – mothers and babies alike. The pandemic makes it harder for us to do some things, like welcome volunteers to wrap gifts, but it makes us remember how fortunate we are that the Mary’s Path family is in good health.
It makes us remember, too, that paramount among our blessings at this special time is the support and good will of the people who sustain our work. That means you.
Mary’s Path is 1 of only 5 residential facilities in all of California serving our vulnerable population. That means our work is of tremendous importance, but it also means that there is great pressure for us to do as much as we can, for as many as we can help.
Mary’s Path is the solution for pregnant and parenting teens from the foster care system and their babies. We provide a healthy and safe space for teen moms who have experienced trauma, been exposed to violence, and who still have the courage to take charge of life for themselves and their babies.
We are reminded of the continuing importance of what Mary’s Path does by the wonderful accomplishments of children of our alumnae:
- A 15 year-old girl is a straight A honor student in the 10th grade.
- A young man who was born here has finished all the requirements to fly a plane, on the way to achieving his dreams.
2020 has been a challenging year for us, as for many nonprofits. Costs to serve our teen mothers and their babies have increased by 30% in this pandemic and we urgently need to raise funds to close the gap.Will you support us with a donation today?
